Butte Burner run

Ryan helped put on the 3rd annual Butte Burner race this year. Yesterday, almost 200 racers competed in either the 5k, 10k, or the 3:33 challenge on Pilot Butte (located in the heart of Bend). Participants had to run/walk up and down the butte either once, twice, or for 3.5 hours depending on the race they entered. Grandma Cindy, Grandma Leslie, and Grandad Riley did the 5k and enjoyed the beautiful view from the top of the butte.

Addie and some of her friends participated in the kids run, which was two laps around the track. Addie wasn't sure how to pace herself so she started out running full speed and slowed down a lot towards the end. Most importantly, the kids all had a good time and enjoyed the free food and ice cream afterwards!

Ryan and Jeff worked very hard on the race set-up and all the logistics that went in to the planning. All the proceeds went towards improving Pilot Butte and helping a local non-profit that helps stop child trafficking. Good work!

Summer begins

Thursday was the last day of school for the kids and we celebrated with a graduation ceremony and picnic in the park. All families from the school were invited. Addie's class sang 3 wonderful songs for us and the Kindergarteners were honored in a short graduation ceremony. Addie and her friends all did a wonderful job signing for everyone. It was a great evening in the park and a wonderful way to end the school year. Grandma Cindy made it to town just in time for the celebration! And now summer can begin!!

Kindergarten

Addie just missed the cut off for kindergarten because of her birthday being a few weeks past September 1st. She has asked me for months and months if she could go to kindergarten next year. I decided to look in to the process to petition her for early entry. After much debate and questioning, we went for it and let Addie try to get in to kindergarten. She met with an evaluator one Saturday for a few hours of testing. She had to score in the 97th percentile in every category in order to be allowed to enter school early and she did! We are so proud of her and excited that she will be starting Kindergarten in the fall! Best of all, Addie is super excited and ready for school!

The Biggest Little Show in the World

Last night we went to the 73rd annual Sisters Rodeo with Riley and Leslie. Poor Addie was sick, but rallied to go to the rodeo. Caden was hooked once he saw the tractor come out in to the arena to smooth out the dirt. Addie remembered the rodeo from last year and was looking forward to seeing the rodeo queens and the barrel racing. The kids were attentive and captivated throughout the whole show (until 9:30 at night)! They were clapping, laughing, dancing, and cheering! We have some rodeo fans on our hands! What a fun night for everyone and we are glad that the kids enjoyed the rodeo. See you next year!

Wizard Falls Fishing

Last Saturday was a special day for Ryan. He grew up visiting the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery in Camp Sherman. He was fond memories of his fishing experiences with his dad and grandpa. Now, he got to take our kids out there to fish. The pond is stocked with rainbow trout and one day out of the year it is open for fishing. We got up nice and early, packed the cooler and away we went! The kids were so excited to catch a big fish and that is what we did. Ryan hooked the first one (0.8 lbs and 13 inches) and then Addie reeled in the next fish that was bigger than Dad's at 1.8 lbs and 16 inches! She was so excited to catch a fish all by herself!

Baby Shower

Leslie hosted the most amazing baby shower for me last weekend. She put so much thought and effort in to all the decorations, food and drink menu, and the games. There were about 15 of us that attended and we enjoyed celebrating baby and socializing with each other. I feel so lucky to have such amazing women in my life! Thank you for all your love and support!

Catching up

It is hard to believe that it is already June! I am not complaining because that means I am getting closer to my due date (5.5 weeks to go)! Just crazy how fast time goes by. My parents came up for Memorial Day weekend and we packed in as much as possible in 3 days. Ryan and grandpa bill assembled a wooden play set for the kids all day while my mom and I played with the kids and prepared a turkey feast. Sunday we celebrated my birthday with our neighbors. The kids were so excited to help blow out the candles and open the gifts!

Ryan bought me a SLR camera that I am so excited to learn how to use! We needed a camera that will keep up with the kids constantly moving. I am glad my parents made the trip up to spend the weekend with us. See you when the baby comes!
