Many THANKS

Thanksgiving this year was quiet, with only one guest, but very peaceful. A good family friend of the McHughs from Mexico City joined us for the weekend and was delighted by the yummy turkey feast and other American traditions. Our Thanksgiving weekend included lots of eating and drinking, football, snowman making, the Sisters Christmas parade, a visit to the High Desert Museum, and Christmas tree cutting. Addie enjoyed everything about the holiday, especially the time she spent with her new friend, Omar.

Although our life has been unsettled for the last 6 months, we still have so much to be thankful for. Most importantly, our amazing family and friends! We would be lost without the support, love, and generosity of all of them. We are thankful that we live in such a beautiful state that is surrounded by the great outdoors. Of course we are so thankful for our daughter, Addison, and the little boy that is expected to join the family in 3 months!!

Addie's First Haircut

Despite Ryan's wishes, I took Addie to get her hair cut today! I was a little worried about her sitting still and not screaming at the stylist to "not pull her hair", but she did an excellent job. She didn't say a word nor move the entire time Patty was brushing and cutting her hair (maybe because she had a lollipop). She took off at least 2 inches and it looks so cute!! She looks so much older now that she has a stylish doo!

Gum Drop Pillow

Leslie and I decided to test our creative sides by making a "gum drop pillow" for Addie. We bought the fabric and pattern at a local sewing store, borrowed a sewing machine and away we went. I have to give most of the credit to Leslie for the amazing sewing job...check it out.

Addie's latest

Since our whole life is packed up and in storage (including Addie's baby book and scrapbook), I have decided to post more often about what Addie is up to these days. She is talking in full sentences and knows exactly what she wants! She has started singing songs to herself and Callie like Old MacDonald's Farm, Mary had a little lamb, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Baa Baa Black Sheep. She enjoys reading books to Callie and thankfully Callie is a good sport about it and actually will sit through a few of them. She has diverted her attention from puzzles to play doh and painting--she must have gotten the artsy gene from Uncle Dan!! She loves to help bake, do the dishes and set the table. She was addicted to YouTube videos for a bit and was able to open up the website. She still loves horses and everything to do with them. Addie we love you to pieces and are so thankful that you are our little girl!

Jen + Doug

My cousin, Jen got married last weekend at Red Hawk Resort in Sparks. We were so happy to be a part of their beautiful wedding day. What a treat to be around so many wonderful people to celebrate the love between Jen and Doug! Jen was an amazingly beautiful bride and the day was perfect! Addie was hillarious- dancing most of the night on the dance floor, hoarding candy from the candy bowls, and licking icing off the wedding cake in front of everyone!

Ashland Colors

On our way to Reno we stopped in Ashland to visit Shauna and her boyfriend. The fall colors were so vibrant and beautiful. Lithia Park (located in downtown Ashland) was littered with fallen leaves that provided entertainment for both children and adults. We had a great stay with Shauna and Tobias and enjoyed the beautiful fall day.
