sunny SD

This year we met my parents and Uncle Dan in San Diego for a week of fun in the sun around the holidays! We rented a house that was centrally located and perfect for the whole family. The weather was amazing- highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s! What a treat to get out of the cold for a week. We tried to pack in as much as possible each day on top of celebrating Christmas and Grandpa Bill's birthday. Some of our excursions included: visit to Coronado, San Diego Zoo on Christmas, tour of the USS Midway Ship, PB sunset and drinks, Mission Beach rides and beach time, La Jolla beach time, shopping and lots of dining. This was Caden's first time on a sunny beach and he loved it! He was laughing, screaming, crawling and eating the sand! Addie enjoyed chasing the waves and playing in the sand. Ryan rented a stand up paddle board and gave it a go. He said it was much more difficult to maintain balance in the ocean than on the Deschutes River.

Christmas was awesome this year (as always)because Addie was really in to it all. She was so excited for Santa to come and enjoyed watching him fly around the world towards San Diego on the Santa Cam. Caden's goal in life is to walk. I had to buy him a walker so he could push it around the boardwalks, beach, and house. It was so cute to see him cruising the boardwalk with all the other people.

We enjoyed spending time with family and visiting some friends in San Diego. Great way to end an already fabulous year for the McHugh family.

Happy New Year to each and everyone of you!

Lake Creek

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving at Lake Creek in Camp Sherman (about one hour from Bend). Ryan's grandparents lived in Camp Sherman for 23 years and he has fond childhood memories of summer fun in Camp Sherman. They would come up for a few weeks every summer to fish, swim, ride bikes, and explore in the great outdoors. It is really neat that Ryan can create new memories with his children in such an amazing spot! We stayed in a beautiful cabin for 2 nights with Riley, Leslie, Shauna and Tobias. We had a delicious Thanksgiving meal at the Lake Creek Lodge with heaps and heaps of wonderful food. It was a treat for Leslie to be able to spend time with everyone instead of cooking and preparing food all day.

We went fishing in the pond (caught a few rainbow trout), cut down a Christmas tree, went on a few walks, played games, and enjoyed each others company. We are so grateful for our amazing family and the beautiful place we live!

9 months old

Where did the time go? I can't believe that Caden is already 9 months old! He is a happy and very busy little boy.

Some of his likes include:

crawling as fast as he can around the house and up the stairs
playing peek-a-boo and hide-and-go-seek
splashing in the bath
pushing his car around the house
eating almost anything
watching Addie
riding on Callie
swinging
throwing things
climbing in to the dishwasher (such a big helper)

Dislikes include:

getting his diaper changed- he screams, grunts, flips over and crawls away
being confined
peas

He has learned how to clap and wave, but he doesn't like to do them often. He likes to use the spoon to help eat and is figuring out how to drink from a cup. Every day is an adventure with him. I can't turn my back for a second because he gets in to everything! Life is different now that he is so mobile, but we love it!

Winter Time

That means snow gear, sledding, skiing, and riding in the Barbie Jeep with Camryn!

Ryan and Addie went skiing at Mt. Bachelor last weekend to test out Addie's new skis, boots, goggles, and helmet. The carousel lift for beginners wasn't open for the season, so they went to the big hill. Addie did all the green circles on the mountain and loved it!!

Santa

The last two years Addie wanted nothing to do with seeing Santa or sitting on his lap, but this year she was so excited to see him! She patiently waited for her turn and jumped up on his lap and told him her name and that she wanted a horse and Caden wanted a truck.

This was Caden's first time ever seeing Santa and luckily he didn't seem to mind him and his big white beard. He enjoyed studying his jolly face and red suit!
