Newport aquarium

While the boys were steelhead fishing, Leslie and I decided to take the kids to the Newport Aquarium. Caden was more intrigued than Addie with the massive fish tanks, but this was his first experience (that he can remember) at an aquarium.

I was very impressed with all the different sea creatures that were at the aquarium. The kids really enjoyed the shark tanks, sea lions, and the tufted puffins.

The boys had a fun time on the Nestucca River and were delighted with their 15 pound and 7 pound steelheads they caught.

Made for a delicious dinner!

Pacific city

We had the pleasure of joining Riley and Leslie at their coastal timeshare in Pacific City last week. The last time we went to the coast, Caden was 4 months old. This trip was a whole new experience for everyone! Caden's favorite things were driving the truck on the beach, watching the surfers, playing in the sand and running around.

Addie learned how to fly a kite and what happens when you let go of a kite on a super windy day at the coast.

We took some walks up the sand dunes, explored the tide pools, and enjoy the yummy food at the Pelican brewery.

We had a bonfire on the beach one night and roasted marshmallows. The kids loved playing flashlight tag.

We celebrated Leslie's birthday with a delicious tuxedo mouse cake. Caden was named "chocolate chunk"!

We enjoyed relaxing with the sound of the waves crashing out our bedroom window. Look forward to many fun filled years at the coast!

Girls Weekend

Addie and I went to Portland last weekend with our friends Brittany, Killian, and Kelsey. We packed in as much as possible starting with a visit to the Children's Museum. The museum reminded me of the Nevada Discovery Museum, but much bigger and more diverse. There was a kid-sized vet hospital, grocery store, tree house to construct, water works exhibit, clay studio, theater to act out a play, a dig pit and a vroom room. There was something for everyone, even the parents were having fun! The rotating exhibit was called Storyland and it showcased life size characters and settings from classic children's story books. Very interactive and educational experience for the kids!

After the museum closed, we meet up with some friends at Hop Works Bike Bar for dinner. The kids enjoyed seeing people riding the stationary bikes while drinking beer! The weather in Portland was unbelievable today, 60 and sunny! Needless to say, there were crowds everywhere we went. Everyone wanted to soak up the sun!
Then off to the hotel to get some rest. The kids were troopers on our long day.

We woke up early and went swimming, grabbed some breakfast, and went to the Oregon Zoo. We spent the whole day exploring the Zoo grounds. The animals were very alert and active today, which was exciting for the kids. Addie's favorite animals were the sea lions, baby Lily (elephant born in November), polar bears, and the lions. Lily was adorable and so tiny! She was very playful and cute.

After a long, but fun-filled weekend we made the journey back to Bend. The kids fell asleep in the car and the moms relaxed and enjoyed the drive. What a great getaway weekend for all of us. Ryan and Caden enjoyed their time together being active outside. I sure missed them, but I was excited to spend quality time with just my little girl!
