The newest addition to our family

The last few days have been a whirl wind for me. On Tuesday, I had an ultrasound appointment to make sure that the baby was on track (I measured a bit small) and everything was great. I then went to my doctor apt and found out that I was 4 cm dilated!! Super exciting news, but I tested positive for the Group B Strep and due to my fast deliver with Addie my doctor was concerned about getting the antibiotics on board prior to delivery. Turned out the hospital had only one apt. for induction this week and it was Tuesday at noon! I rushed home to pack some things (while contractions were picking up in speed and intensity) and headed to the hospital. Ryan followed behind after Leslie arrived to watch Addie. I got the antibiotics on board in about 4 hours and Dr. Burket broke my water at 5pm. The contractions got going pretty fast and I worked through them thanks to our amazing nurse, Shirley, and Ryan. Dr. Burket went back to his office and was to return at 7pm, but luckily he was a few minutes early because CADEN RYAN MCHUGH popped his head out at 6:52 pm on February 22, 2011!! It was love at first sight! He measured in at almost 20 inches and 6 pounds and 5 ounces. He looks a lot like Addie with strawberry blonde hair and dark blue eyes. We are adjusting to having 2 kids and getting no sleep. We are so blessed to have 2 healthy and happy children. We look forward to a wonderful life ahead of us.

The next American Idol

I am pretty sure that Addie wants to be the next American Idol. Her new favorite hobby is to sing all the time! She can carry a good note and even knows to fluctuate the tone of her voice. The funniest part is that she makes up new lyrics to all of her favorite songs- Old MacDonald, Humpty Dumpty, This Old Man, Hush Little Baby, Five Little Monkeys. She loves to make us laugh at her funny jokes and reinvented song lyrics. Aside from the wonderful singing, Addie has become much more independent. She has been getting herself dressed and undressed (huge help for me) and buckling herself in her high chair and car seat (most of the way). She likes to help me "clean" the house with her favorite chore being to "wash" the windows with the broom. I am hoping that she didn't see me do that one day because that would confirm that I am losing my mind!
