Addie and I went to Portland last weekend with our friends Brittany, Killian, and Kelsey. We packed in as much as possible starting with a visit to the Children's Museum. The museum reminded me of the Nevada Discovery Museum, but much bigger and more diverse. There was a kid-sized vet hospital, grocery store, tree house to construct, water works exhibit, clay studio, theater to act out a play, a dig pit and a vroom room. There was something for everyone, even the parents were having fun! The rotating exhibit was called Storyland and it showcased life size characters and settings from classic children's story books. Very interactive and educational experience for the kids!
After the museum closed, we meet up with some friends at Hop Works Bike Bar for dinner. The kids enjoyed seeing people riding the stationary bikes while drinking beer! The weather in Portland was unbelievable today, 60 and sunny! Needless to say, there were crowds everywhere we went. Everyone wanted to soak up the sun!
Then off to the hotel to get some rest. The kids were troopers on our long day.
We woke up early and went swimming, grabbed some breakfast, and went to the Oregon Zoo. We spent the whole day exploring the Zoo grounds. The animals were very alert and active today, which was exciting for the kids. Addie's favorite animals were the sea lions, baby Lily (elephant born in November), polar bears, and the lions. Lily was adorable and so tiny! She was very playful and cute.
After a long, but fun-filled weekend we made the journey back to Bend. The kids fell asleep in the car and the moms relaxed and enjoyed the drive. What a great getaway weekend for all of us. Ryan and Caden enjoyed their time together being active outside. I sure missed them, but I was excited to spend quality time with just my little girl!
